Born in Gijón (Asturias), Serena Pérez graduates from the Professional Conservatory of Music in her hometown. Later she moves to Amsterdam where she finishes her higher degree training in singing at the Conservatory of the Dutch capital and, as a master's degree, at the Academy of the Dutch National Opera.
During this period, she participates in various operatic productions in the Netherlands and Spain ... Orfeo by Monteverdi (Esperanza), Suor Angelica by Puccini (Abadesa), Cendrillon by Massenet (Haltière), The rape of Lucretia by Britten (Bianca), Così fan tutte by Mozart (Despina) and the title role of Radamisto by Haendel, among others, under great influence conductors in Holland like Ed Spanjaard and also on stage like Maria Riccarda Wesseling.
Awarded in different competitions, she gets Teatro de la Maestranza prize in the International Singing Competition City of Logroño and therefore, she debuts the 19/20 season at the Sevillian coliseum in Agrippina, conducted by Enrico Onofri.
In 2021 she is part of the first Baroque Academy of the Granada Festival and participates in the production The Fairy Queen. To highlight her debut at the Oviedo Opera, playing the role of the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and the incorporation of the roles of Mercedes in Carmen, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice (Lyrique en Mer Festival, France) and Clotilde in Norma (Ópera de Oviedo) to her repertoire.
Most recently she returns to Teatro Campoamor to take part in the production "Dolce Cenerentola", designed for family audiences, in which she performs arias from Rossini's La Cenerentola.
Her symphonic repertoire include works by Beethoven (Fantasy op.80 and Symphony No.9), Bach (Mass in F major, several Cantatas and Saint Matthew Passion), Charpentier (Te Deum), Mozart (Requiem), Saint-Säens (Christmas Oratory) and Pergolesi (Stabat Mater). Recently, she performes Manuel de Falla's El sombrero de tres picos with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, also participating in the recording of the same work.
Serena Pérez will shortly be performing in the zarzuela El caserío at the Festival de Teatro Lírico Español of Oviedo.
