Born in Gijón (Spain), Serena Pérez graduated from the Professional Conservatory of Music in her hometown. Subsequently, she moved to Amsterdam where she completed her undergraduate degree in Singing at the Conservatory of the Dutch capital and her postgraduate studies at the Dutch National Opera Academy, where she obtained her Opera license.
Awarded in various competitions, particularly notable is Teatro de la Maestranza Prize from the International Singing Competition "Ciudad de Logroño".
During her studies, she participated in various operatic productions in both the Netherlands and Spain. Among the notable titles she tackled are Monteverdi's Orfeo (Esperanza), Puccini's Suor Angelica (Abbess), Massenet's Cendrillon (Haltière), Britten's The Rape of Lucretia (Bianca), Mozart's Così fan tutte (Despina), and Handel's Radamisto (Radamisto), among others. These productions were conducted by influential conductors in the Netherlands such as Ed Spanjaard, and also stage directors like Maria Riccarda Wesseling.
Her operatic repertoire includes works such as Agrippina, The Fairy Queen, Die Zauberflöte, Norma, Manon, La Cenerentola (a family project), Carmen, Orfeo ed Euridice, Madama Butterfly, among others. She has performed in venues such as the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Maestranza in Sevilla, the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, and Festival Lyrique en Mer in France, to name just a few.
In 2023, she made her debut at the Festival Teatro Lírico Español de Oviedo with the zarzuela El caserío, singing the role of Inosensia.
Serena Pérez also maintains an intense concert activity. She performs works by Beethoven (Fantasia Op. 80 and Symphony No. 9), Bach (Mass in F major, various Cantatas, and St. Matthew Passion), Charpentier (Te Deum), Vivaldi (Gloria), Mozart (Requiem), Saint-Saëns (Christmas Oratorio), and Pergolesi (Stabat Mater). Recently, she interpreted Manuel de Falla's El sombrero de tres picos with the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, also participating in the recording of the same piece. More recently, she participated in the concert version of the opera Los elementos, conducted by Aaron Zapico, in Valencia, Barcelona, and Salamanca.
Among her upcoming commitments, her return to Oviedo to portray the role of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro stands out particularly.
