pedro bartolomé
conductor
Born in Burgos in 1987, Pedro Bartolomé is one of Spain's most promising young orchestral conductors. In his training as a conductor, the figures of Miguel Romea and Andrés Salado, great pedagogues who have focused their vision of conducting on the qualities of sound and the search for timbre, have played a key role. He also follows in the footsteps of conductors such as Aldo Ceccato, Hans Leenders, Timothy Redmon, Pablo González and Rossen Milanov in the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra (OSPA).
He is the musical and artistic director of the Burgos Youth Symphony Orchestra (JOSBU).
In the operatic field, he assists maestros such as Daniel Oren, Ricardo Frizza, Nicola Luisotti, Francesco I. Ciampa, Yves Abel, Henrik Nànàsi or Pedro Halfter, in the operas Tosca by Puccini, Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti, Les pêcheurs de perles by Bizet, Il trovatore or the Spanish premiere of Jérusalem by Verdi.
Among the opera seasons with which he collaborates assiduously are ABAO (Bilbao), Teatro de la Maestranza (Seville) or ACO in Gran Canaria, to name but a few. In September 2021 he makes his debut as assistant conductor at Teatro Real in Madrid in the production of Rossini's La Cenerentola.
More recently, he makes his debut on the podium in the Bilbao opera season, conducting the Berri performance of Mozart's Così fan tutte.
He holds a degree in clarinet and orchestral conducting from the Eduardo Martínez Torner Conservatory of Music of the Principality of Asturias and a diploma in Music Education from the University of Burgos.
Bartolomé conducts orchestras such as the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, Oviedo Filarmonía, Orchestra of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Belgium), Domenico Cimarosa Orchestra of Avellino (Italy), Stara Zagora State Opera Orchestra (Bulgaria) or the Royal Northem College of Music Orchestra (United Kingdom), among others.
As part of his commitments with the JOSBU, he regularly conducts numerous concerts with the collaboration of solo instrumentalists and choirs, as well as numerous premiere works commissioned by the Burgos ensemble.
In 2022 he creates the Burgos lyric season, providing the city with a steady opera and zarzuela season. The first titles he directs are the opera Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and the zarzuela Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente by Chueca. In 2023 he will take over the conduction of Gran Vía and I pagliacci at the same venue.
He will soon make his debut as a conductor at the Teatro de la Maestranza with Norma.
