pedro bartolomé
conductor
Born in Burgos (Spain), Pedro Bartolomé is one of the young Spanish talents in the field of orchestral conducting. Key figures in his training as a conductor are Miguel Romea and Andrés Salado, distinguished pedagogues who have directed their vision of conducting towards the qualities of sound and the pursuit of timbre. He also follows in the footsteps of conductors such as Aldo Ceccato, Hans Leenders, Timothy Redmon, Pablo González, and Rossen Milanov.
He holds a higher degree in clarinet and orchestral conducting from the Eduardo Martínez Torner Superior Conservatory of Music in the Principality of Asturias, and a diploma in Music Education from the University of Burgos.
He begins his professional career in the operatic world as assistant to Maestros such as Daniel Oren, Ricardo Frizza, Nicola Luisotti, Francesco I. Ciampa, Yves Abel, Henrik Nànàsi, or Pedro Halfter, in productions such as Tosca, Lucia di Lammermoor, Bizet's Les pêcheurs de perles, Rigoletto, La Bohème, and the Spanish premiere of Verdi's Jérusalem, to name a fews. Among the institutions he regularly collaborates with are ABAO (Bilbao), the Teatro de la Maestranza (Seville), or ACO de Gran Canaria. In 2021, he made his debut as assistant conductor at the Teatro Real in Madrid in the production of La Cenerentola.
More recently, Pedro Bartolomé has conducted performances of titles such as Così fan tutte within the Bilbao season and Norma at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
In the symphonic field, he collaborates with orchestras such as the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, Oviedo Philharmonic, Orchestre de l'Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Belgium), Domenico Cimarosa Orchestra of Avellino (Italy), Stara Zagora State Opera Orchestra (Bulgaria), or the Royal Northern College of Music Orchestra (United Kingdom), among others.
In 2022, he establishes the lyric season of Burgos, endowing the city with a season of opera and zarzuela. The first titles he conducts are the opera Dido and Aeneas and the zarzuela Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente by Chueca, followed in 2023 by Pagliacci and Las bribonas.
Pedro Bartolomé will soon return to the Teatro Real to assist Maestro Luisotti in Adriana Lecouvreur, and he will conduct La Traviata in Burgos.
He is the musical and artistic director of the Young Symphony Orchestra of Burgos (JOSBU).
