Lyric tenor with a diverse musical background and a prominent international presence, Jesús Álvarez was born in Alicante. He began his musical studies as an accordionist in Alicante and later moved to Barcelona to continue his education at the Conservatorio Superior de Música, where he obtained the highest degree in that instrument. During the latter years of his accordion studies, he embarked on vocal training in Valencia. Subsequently, he became a part of the Centre de Perfeccionament del Palau de les Arts in Valencia, where he participated in various productions, including Le nozze di Figaro, Boris Godunov, Dido & Aeneas, Il Trovatore, and Tristan und Isolde, among others.
From the beginning of his professional career, he has taken on leading roles in titles such as Don Pasquale (Ernesto), La fille du régiment (Tonio), Il matrimonio segreto (Paolino), Die Entführung aus dem serail (Pedrillo), Rómeo et Juliette (Rómeo), Rigoletto (Duca), Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton), Gianni Schicchi (Rinuccio), L'elisir d'amore (Nemorino), Don Giovanni (Ottavio), Lucrezia Borgia (Liverotto) ... In venues of great significance in Spain such as Campoamor in Oviedo, L'Auditori in Barcelona, Arriaga and Euskalduna in Bilbao, and Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. He has also performed abroad in renowned theaters including Semperoper in Dresden, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, Opera North in Leeds and Buxton Opera Festival in the UK, and the Florida Grand Opera in Miami, USA.
Álvarez has also participated in numerous zarzuelas such as Luisa Fernanda (Javier), Los gavilanes (Gustavo), La corte de Faraón (Casto José), El rey que rabió (Jeremías), La del manojo de rosas (Capó), and La Dolorosa (Perico), among others. His performances as Cardona in Doña Francisquita at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse and Teatro Cervantes in Malaga are particularly noteworthy.
He will soon debut at the Zarzuela in Madrid with Juan José.
