Born in Palencia, Javier Castañeda combines his studies in Industrial Engineering and Anthropology with the Piano career, both in Valladolid. He discovers his vocation for singing a few years later, moving to Madrid to train at the Superior School of Singing with the singer Juan Lomba.
He begins his artistic experience in 2015. He participates in various productions with the Madrid Opera group at Teatro Victoria in the city like Rigoletto, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Bohème, L'elisir d'amore, La del manojo de rosas and La verbena de la Paloma, among others. He continues his professional career with his debut at Teatro Calderón in Valladolid singing the role of Sam in Un ballo in maschera, a venue to which he recently returned to sing for the first time the role of Doctor Grenvil in La Traviata; his performance as Ferrando in Il Trovatore and the Count de Grieux in the opera Manon at Villamarta in Jerez, and the debut of the demanding role of Zaccaria in Nabucco and the Spectre of the departed King in Thomas' Hamlet in Oviedo.
He continues an ascending career with his debut at Teatro de la Maestranza in Pelléas et Mélisande, where he returns in Roberto Devereux, at Teatro de la Zarzuela in La Celestina and at the Fundación March with Rachmaninoff's The Miserly Gentleman. He also collaborates with the Orquesta de Extremadura in the concert version of Parsifal, conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado, and collaborates with Palau de les Arts in Ernani.
In the field of oratorio, he performs Handel's Messiah and Samson, Mozart's Requiem, Bach's Magnificat and Cantatas, Haydn's Stabat Mater (Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, ORCAM) and Verdi's Requiem (Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga).
Especially noteworthy among his recent commitments is his return to Teatro de la Zarzuela with Las golondrinas and to Villamarta in Jerez with Madama Butterfly.
One of his upcoming commitments stands out particularly his return to the Ópera de Oviedo to perform the role of Henry VIII in Anna Bolena, along with a new collaboration with the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Marina, to sing the role of Pascual.
