Alejandro del Cerro is one of the most promising tenors in the current Spanish scene, as evidenced by his regular appearances at venues such as the Teatro Real and Zarzuela in Madrid, as well as his recent debut at the Opernhaus in Zurich with Roberto Devereux.
Born in Santander (Spain), he began his piano and singing studies at the conservatory in his hometown. He later moved to Madrid, where he graduated with top honors from the Superior School of Singing and received the Special End-of-Career Award. He obtained a scholarship from the Marcelino Botín Foundation to further his musical studies, honing his technique under the guidance of masters such as Renata Scotto, Teresa Berganza, Dolora Zajick, and Juan Lomba, among others.
Recognized in various competitions, he made his stage debut with the zarzuela Katiuska by Sorozábal, portraying the role of Prince Sergio. From that moment on, his artistic career followed an upward trajectory, adding operas such as La Traviata (Alfredo), Lucia di Lammermoor (Edgardo and Arturo), Macbeth (Malcolm), I vespri siciliani, La Favorita, Otello (Cassio), Eugene Onegin (Lensky), Faust (Faust), Marina (Jorge), Poliuto, Viva la mamma (Guglielmo), Salome (Narraboth), Hamlet (Laërte), Tristan und Isolde (Seaman), Roméo et Juliette (Tybalt), and more into his repertoire.
