RUTH GONZÁLEZ soprano

Born in Tenerife, Ruth González studied at the School of Dramatic Art Orpheus in Madrid.
She makes her first performance in 'zarzuela' (Spanish operetta) in Doña Francisquita by Vives, singing since then all Spanish repertoire (Marina, La tabernera del puerto, Bohemios, Gavilanes, El barberillo de Lavapiés...), consolidating her career in opera and zarzuela seasons in Madrid, Barcelona, La Coruña, Jerez, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Oviedo, Pamplona, San Sebastián, Valencia, Valladolid, Sevilla, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico...
In 2004 she performs for the first time at the Teatro Real in Madrid, in Macbeth conducted by Jesús López Cobos. Also in this theatre she plays Juliet in Little sweep by Briten, Sister Valentine in Dialogues des carmélites by Poulenc, Menica in Il tutore burlato by Martin y Soler, Tujaman in Retablo de Maese Pedro by Falla, Lulu by Berg, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) in the play "Mutiny on the party" and the shepherd in Tosca.
Ruth González shows for the first time the opera Brundibar by Hans Krasa at Baluarte Hall in Pamplona, conducted by Eduardo Bazo, title repeated at the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao, Oviedo and Real in Madrid. Also she debuts the role of Elvira of L'italiana in Algeri by Rossini in Wildbad Festival Rossiniano (Germany), where she records the title for Naxos with Alberto Zedda.
Intermittently, during the season 2008/2009 and at stages like the Teatro Español in Madrid, Arriaga and the Teatro Apolo in Barcelona, she takes part in the play Sweeney Todd, directed by Mario Gas. She wins in June 2009 the award for best supporting actress in the Spanish prestigious Teatro Gran Vía Awards for her interpretation of Toby in that production.
She starts a new stage in her career into the world of contemporary music being selected by the VocaalLab (Netherlands), to participate in a training course on this repertoire and to perform a series of concerts in Spain (Real, Reina Sofia Hall...). Also, she collaborates in the stagings of Tres desechos en forma de ópera and Angelus novus by the composer Fernández Guerra, both in Madrid.
Ruth González debuts the show 'Bestiari', a coproduction of the Real, Liceu, Arriaga and Campoamor (Oviedo) theatres, and the main role in Con los pies en la Luna by Antonio Parera, coproduction of the Liceu, Maestranza (Sevilla), Arriaga and Real. Also the role of Lucia in Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali in Valladolid and Marie in La fille du régiment in Tenerife.
She assumes many roles at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid: Curro Vargas directed by Graham Vick, Iphigenia en Tracia and Viento es la dicha de amor by Nebra, La tabernera del puerto in Madrid, Seville and Oviedo, and most recently, the role of Gabrié in La Tempranica.
In 2018, Ruth González starts a tour of Spain with the voice and piano recital 'Tres pasiones de mujer', together with pianist Albert Nieto, with unpublished works by David del Puerto, Fernando Lázaro and José Luís Turina.
Next future includes the production El rey que rabió, again at the Zarzuela, and new colaborations with the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
