MAITE ALBEROLA soprano
Maite Alberola was born in Valencia (Spain), and graduates in voice and viola. She is currently studying with Enedina Lloris (soprano) and Darrell Babidge (baritone). Awarded in numerous competitions, she receives the prizes of the best singer of zarzuela and the public in the prestigious Operalia contest (2006).
She makes her operatic debut performing the role of Countess in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. From that moment on, she continues an upward career with titles such as Così fan tutte and again Le nozze at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Das Rheingold and Faust at Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Gianni Schicchi at Real de Madrid, with stage direction by Woody Allen, Carmen in Bilbao and Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira) in Seville.
She incorporates new leading roles to her repertoire such as L'elisir d'amore, La Sonnambula, Bastien und Bastienne, Il tutore burlato, Pagliacci, Falstaff, Les contes d'Hoffmann, Iphigénie en Tauride, Orpheus ed Euridice, Otello and Die Fledermaus, among others.
She combines her activity in Spain with important debuts in Europe and Asia as the role of Pamina (Die Zauberflüte) at Staatsoper in Berlin, Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Mimì (La Bohème) and Violeta (La Traviata) in the Carlo Felice in Genoa, Alice (Falstaff) at the Saito Kinen Festival in Japan, Micaela (Carmen) on a tour of China, and the Countess of Le nozze di Figaro at the Opera of Naples (USA).
More recently she debuts two important roles, Elisabetta of Don Carlo (Sabadell) and Aida (Tunisia and Trapani), that confirm her clear evolution towards a more dramatic repertoire. Also, she performs the roles of Bianca in Eine florentinische tragödie by Zemlinsky and Nedda in Pagliacci at Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo.
Maite Alberola collaborates with conductors such as Christopher Rousset, Daniel Martínez, Miguel Ortega, Marzio Conti, Guerassim Voronkof, Lorin Maazel, Plácido Domingo, Ramón Tebar, Antoni Ros Marbà, García Asensio, Giuliano Carella, Michael Boder, Josep Pons ... and stage directors as Franco Zeffirelli, Robert Wilson, Carlus Padrissa, Emilio Sagi and Jean Louis Grinda.
In 'zarzuela' repertoire, she performs titles such as La canción del olvido, La del manojo de rosas, Maruxa and Luisa Fernanda, among others, and more recently, Katiuska at Palau de les Arts in Valencia and the opera La villana, Maruxa, Katiuska and Luisa Fernanda again at Teatro de la Zarzuela.
And in symphonic music, she performs Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, Requiem by Fauré, Mozart and Brahms, War Requiem by Britten, and most recently, Le Roi David by Honegger with RTVE Orchestra, conducted by Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez.
Of her last commitments, new collaborations with the Opera of Sabadell stand out: the role of Mimì (La Bohème), Violetta (La Traviata) and more recently, the leading role of Aida, as well as Abigaille of Nabucco in the Opera of Oviedo and Rosario of the opera by Granados Goyescas at Zaragoza Auditorium.
Next future will bring her back again the role of Luisa Fernanda at Palacio de Festivales in Santander.
