The stunning mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux is one of the most eminent performers of Baroque music and Belcanto, not only for her extraordinary technique and the beauty of her voice, but also for her vibrant performances.
Nominated for three Grammy Awards, she has performed on the most important stages around the world (London, Paris, Washington, Berlin, New York, Vienna, Venice, San Francisco, Salzburg ... and in Spain, Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Oviedo, Santiago de Compostela, Malaga, etc.), singing the main roles of her repertoire, from Haendel, Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Gluck, Rossini, Monteverdi and Donizetti to Berlioz, Falla and Bizet.
To highlight some of her most prominent roles, mention Angelina in La Cenerentola, Isabella in L'italiana in Algeri, Arsane in Semiramide, Sesto and Giulio Cesare from the opera of the same name, as well as Rinaldo, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Romeo in I Capuleti ed i Montecchi, Orsini in Lucrezia Borgia, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice and Ottavia in L'incoronazione di Poppea, among others.
Singer with an innate curiosity to discover roles, she continuously incorporates new characters into her career, some of Haendel (Nero in Agrippina and Rossane in Alessandro), others far from their usual musical repertoire such as the captivating gypsy Carmen, or for example, her debut in Mozart's work (Sesto in La clemenza di Tito).
In addition to her intense opera activity, Vivica Genaux combines this work with a continuous presence in festivals and concert halls: BBC Proms in London, Rome, Prague, Halle, St. Denis Festival, Montpellier, San Remo, Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Carnegie Hall in New York, to name a few.
Her important career has allowed her to collaborate with the most outstanding Baroque formations and to build an extensive discography and videography that continues to grow constantly. Her last recording is the CD 'Rival Queens', with the soprano Simone Kermes.
Among her latest international engagements, highlighting her performance of Malcolm in La donna del lago in Salzburg, together with Cecilia Bartoli, and in Spain, her debuts at Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid in the baroque opera El imposible mayor en amor, le vence amor and a recital dedicated to Farinelli, together with Les Musiciens du Louvre, and at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia with the work Piramo e Tisbe conducted by Fabio Biondi. Her great personal project deserves special mention: the 'Vivica & Viardot' show about the great Pauline Viardot, with the stage direction of Paco Azorín, which premieres in November 2017 in Santander and continues its journey in Teatro Calderón in Valladolid and Tours (France)
Vivica Genaux will soon return to Spain to perform in the Chamber Cycle of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and will debut at the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance.
